10:15 pm - And the saga continues....
There seems to be no good chemistry between me and all the airlines
here. For the second time in three weeks, I couldn't board the
flight. It would have been 3 times in a row if

hadn't
dropped me off on time in Phoenix. I had a flight today evening
at 6:15 to San Jose. The plan was to join gurudutt and Ananda and
head to Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately, American Airlines had a
different plan. On the way to the airport, I got a call from the
Airlines saying that the flight has been cancelled and I've
been automatically confirmed for a flight on saturday at 10AM.
The worst part was the tone of the announcer mocking at me "you
loser". Also the reason given was mechanical failure. If
there was some other valid reason lets' say weather or security issues,
I may have understood. But frankly, the flight was a small 50
seater jet and I'm not sure if the airlines was able to get enough
people on
board in time and so had to cancel the flight. I may never know
the
answer anyway.
With no plans of giving up, I headed to the counter and asked the lady
behind the counter to put me on any flight tonight to SFO or San Jose
or even other city in the valley. I was given a stand by ticket
to SFO for which I had to wait another one and half hour. At the
end, the verdict was "No vacancy". Pissed off that I couldn't get
on board, I headed back to the customer support and snapped at the lady
behind the counter. She just announced, there are no more flights
today to the valley. So much for a big airline company. I
could only muster a ticket for early morning on Saturday at 6:30.
Anyway, the plan to go to Lake Tahoe is still unchanged, but I just had
to waste 6 precious hours now and probably 3 more hours of sleep
tomorrow.</b></a>

The US domestic airlines are the worst lot in the whole world,
ur check in luggage can easily be absconding bcoz they have wheels according to americans,
and flight schedules have always to be rescheduled,
